We recently stayed at this hotel and we loved it! The location was great, in a lovely area with beautiful grounds, and it was less than 10 minutes away from the city centre. The staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable, providing us with a welcome drink that was much appreciated after a long day of touring around. We also enjoyed the shared kitchen facilities and the spacious terrace area.

The staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was ab fab. Could not ask for more in the way of facilities. The stroll along the riverside was very pleasant. I highly recommend this yha. Very clean bedding.
Not really a complaint but the bunk beds were a little rickity.

A Pleasant Retreat by the River
Nestled along the serene riverbank, this charming accommodation offers a delightful escape from the bustling city. With a convenient location, we were able to explore both the city center and the tranquil areas along the river. the newly refurbished rooms were clean and well-appointed, providing a comfortable stay. the friendly staff made us feel welcome and were always ready to assist. We enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast with an excellent variety of hot and cold dishes.
Although the kitchen facilities were impressive, we experienced some inconvenience with the bathroom cleanliness.

Although it was about 15 mins walk out of town it was in a nice quiet area, the staff at the hostel were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was good value
The rooms were a little shabby and the toilets and showers were very cramped

I enjoyed the breakfast and size of rooms/hostel - there were good facilities for the backpacker ie washing/ kitchen in addition.
I experienced difficulty in operating the television. However, despite request to three members of staff- none knew how to operate the same- leaving me not having the opportunity to watch tv!!

The Catering kitchen was nice - clean and tidy.
The blanket has some bad smell - seems like it hasnt cleaned or shone by the sun for a long time

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we were made to feel immediately at ease. Local Public Transport information was available and it's location to the city (easily within walking distance) was perfect. Thankyou!

the location was ideal for me as it was close to the railway station, making it easy to travel in and out of the city. the footpath to walk into town was beautiful, along the river and provided a scenic route. the rooms were spacious and clean, with a private bathroom. the staff were friendly and accommodating, making me feel at home. the breakfast offered was good value, and the common areas were comfortable to relax in. the hotel exceeded my expectations with its facilities and room advantages.
The self-catering kitchen was a bit cramped and could have been better equipped.

The staff at YHA are really friendly, it was fun staying here and the walk along the river is lovely. The facilities are good for a Youth Yostel and what we expected. Bed linen nice an fresh. We had fun making our beds up, but are probably a bit old for Youth Hostels at 38, 45 & 47 but for just one night it was fine :-) We enjoyed our experience :-)
When you drive in its a bit shocking as the photo on the net is from the front of the building which looks lovely, but you drive into the back and that looks like an old hospital, not very inviting, but hey its nice inside and it is a Youth Hostel so its not really about the look of the building on the outside, just close your eyes til you walk through the door ;-) It was nice having a room to ourselves, but very basic and walls are like paper so if you get a noisy party coming in don't expect to sleep all night, other than that generally quiet :-)

It was a pleasant walk along the river away from the city centre where we explored the cities attractions, parks and shopping. The hostel itself was friendly alongside lots of information about good deals, trip ideas and walks wtc
The only downfall of the yha hostel was the cleaning regime - everywhere was clean - however I felt there would be a better way to clean rooms than cut off access to all rooms from 10 - 1. There is only one unisex toilet to use downstairs when his happens which os used by everyone, children included, which should b cleaned more regularly if this is to be the mai toilet. I'm not wishing to complain just feel improvements could and should b made in these areas.

I recently had a wonderful stay at this hotel in York and I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience. the location is perfect - situated in a pleasant area, it offers a peaceful atmosphere away from the bustling city center. Secondly, the value for money is unbeatable. With reasonable prices and different rates to choose from, it caters to all budgets. Additionally, the staff members were extremely friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Lastly, the attention to detail was commendable, with basic amenities provided and clean rooms with comfortable beds.
All in all, my stay at this hotel was more than satisfactory.

The laid back and friendly atmosphere there.
The hidden costs those being; £3 extra on the hotel if your not a member, renting towels, buying a lock if u want your stuff safe.
